Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty and homelessness. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, and are financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat homes.
Since Kittitas County Habitat for Humanity's inception in 1993, we have built eight homes in the city of Ellensburg and are almost finished with our ninth home. Our goal is to build at least 2 homes a year and sustain or exceed that level of construction indefinitely.

Committees
Habitat for Humanity has a variety of committees that you can be part of. Most committees meet once a month for an hour and help plan the important aspects of Habitat. Your input counts!
Coordinate building projects; make plans, estimate materials and costs, procurement of materials and scheduling of crew chiefs.
Help develop relationships between Habitat and churches, communicate needs, garner support and act as a church representative. Church and Community Relations committee members work as a team to publish quarterly newsletters, communicate with local news media, and speak to local groups interested in our work and mission
Assist families as they go through the building process, keep track of sweat equity hours, introduce neighbors to the family, assist families in how to be a good homeowner and assist with any potential problems.
Distribute applications, help families with the application process, carefully review applications and interview families to determine their living conditions and support systems.
Seek and evaluate opportunities to obtain land through purchase or donation and make recommendations to the Board regarding land acquisitions.
Responsible for coordinating the raising of funds including fund raising campaigns, grant proposal wiring, special fund raising events, and promoting the importance of Christian stewardship in serving as donors and supporters.
