Foundation for Change: Manny and Paige’s Journey to Homeownership

Manny and Paige, a determined couple, have embarked on a journey that goes beyond finding a place to call home- they’re discovering the true essence of community, resilience, and the strength of a unified vision.

Born and raised in Ellensburg, they both have deep roots in the community. With three children and a career that she’s built right here in her hometown, Paige’s connection to Ellensburg runs deep. “I’ve been here a long time, and I’m going to be here even longer,” she said with a smile.

Manny, a dedicated landscaper working for Central Nursery, echoes Paige’s sentiments. “I take pride in my work, and providing a home for my family means everything to me.”

Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership initiative empowers deserving individuals to construct and purchase their own residences through accessible, long-term mortgages and a network of neighboring families for mutual aid. The ongoing endeavor in Ellensburg is set to introduce 18 three-bedroom houses catering to the needs of around 81 community members seeking affordable homeownership.

Their journey with Kittitas County Habitat for Humanity began with a simple desire- a safe and secure place to raise their children, to lay down roots, and to build a future together.

To them, this new chapter is about stability, having a place to come home to every day, a place where they can show their children the result of all their hard work.

As they started building their home with Habitat for Humanity, Manny and Paige discovered more than just the satisfaction of homeownership- they found a newfound sense of pride, resilience, and belonging.

“It’s been a lot of hard work, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding,” Manny reflected. “We’ve learned the value of perseverance, teamwork, and community.”

Their values align with the mission of Kittitas County Habitat for Humanity, not just for them but for every person. “We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home,” Paige said. “We’re ready for that reality, and we’re grateful to Habitat for Humanity for making our dream a reality.”

With their basic needs met, Manny and Paige have more energy to give back. “We’re looking forward to helping with future projects and continuing to build a stronger, more vibrant community here in Ellensburg.”

As they look to the future, Manny and Paige are eager to pay it forward, to help others in their community achieve the same sense of stability and pride that they’ve found through homeownership.

Their journey with Kittitas County Habitat for Humanity is just the beginning of their ability to give back, creating a ripple effect of positivity and support that extends far beyond the walls of their new home.
